DIS(Drug Information Service) is one of the hospital pharmacists´ role. It is becoming more and more important than ever for the safe and appropriate use of drugs. Questionnairs were mailed out to 240 hospital pharmacies in Korea. Total 77 hospital pharmacies answered to questionnaires showing response rate 32.1%. All questionnaires collected were included in the evaluation. In survey, 52.0% of responders(40) are running the drug information center(DIC) and the main DIS are Q&A, the requestors are doctors (34.1%), nurses (28.2%), patients (15.8%), and pharmacists(14.1%). The contents of the Q & A are components/quantity (68.8%), administration route/ dosage/ method (63.6%), identification of medicine (46.8%), adverse reaction (35.1%), etc. DICs besides the Q & A are offering information on new drug of Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P & T) Committee (58.4%), collecting, arranging and storing of drug information sources (55.8%), publishing the Hospital Formulary (35 hospitals) and the Pharmacy News letter (13 hospitals), etc. 72 hospitals hold the P & T Committee and 40 among them hold it periodically. About 40% of the hospitals are utilizing several kinds of Manuals or Formulae which are prepared by the SIG-DI for daily practice, in starting the DIS and for the training of new comers. Etc.
